I finished up reading chapter 10 of the Gospel of John this
morning. Instead of writing about
something I learned or discovered, I really want to point at something I’m
getting very excited for. For the past
month, I have been anticipating preaching a 7-week sermon series on the “I Am”
statements found in the Gospel of John.
There are 23 times this statement can be found in John. We will tackle seven of them. Right now, if everything goes as planned, we
will start this series on October 21. I
have the feeling that God is going to do something great with this!
If you would like to check out the “I Am” statements over
the next few weeks in preparation for this, I would suggest just go ahead and
read the entire Gospel of John. But if
you are like me and have a ton of other things going on and are currently
involved in Bible study in a different book, but still would like to check out
the verses, look up the following passages:
1. John
6:35
2. John
8:12
3. John
10:9-11
4. John
10:36
5. John
11:25-26
6. John
14:6
7. John
15:5
*Just a reminder that this Sunday is our congregational
affirmation vote for leaders. We will be
passing out ballots and collecting them at the end of service on Sunday. Members are invited to stick around after
service to hear the results. If you have
something immediately planned after service on Sunday, don’t worry. We will be communicating the results via
email and personal calls to those who have chosen to receive church
communications this way.
